Research

Additive Manufacturing technology allows us to take a computer-aided design (CAD) of an object and quickly crate a 3D model, mold, or functional part by precisely building layers of material. It is an exciting technology that explores new worlds of research, limited only by the imagination.

Facilities

The Keck Center occupies over 13,000 square feet of floor space and has more than $8 million in research infrastructure, including over 50 AM systems and combined facilities for advanced manufacturing, metrology and reverse engineering, materials characterization and testing, and synthetic and analytical chemistry.

Services

Our services can help you achieve your goals, providing your company with a competitive advantage through access to our vast selection of 3D printing machines and testing equipment. Fast turnaround and excellent quality of manufactured parts have always been our priority when delivering your final product.

First Satellite Center of America Makes

In August 2015, UTEP was selected as the first satellite center of America Makes. The goal of America Makes is to expand its current regional, industrial, and technological footprint while further maximizing the reach and capabilities of this satellite center through enhanced collaboration. A ribbon cutting ceremony hosted The Honorable Penny Pritzker, U.S. Secretary of Commerce.

Transforming AM at UTEP

Our mission is to lead the Additive Manufacturing (AM) transformation through multidisciplinary activities that include education, research, outreach, technology development and commercialization, and industrial partnerships.

Conferences

Below is a list of conferences where we frequently attend to disseminate our research findings:

mst

 Materials Science & Technology

MS&T brings together scientists, engineers, students, suppliers and more to  discuss current research and technical applications, and to shape the future of  materials science and technology. It is organized in a joint partnership between four leading materials science-related societies – ACerS, AIST, ASM International, and TMS.

Additive Manufacturing Users Group

Focused in advancing additive manufacturing technology for rapid manufacturing and prototyping. With AMUG's expanded range, operators/owners of any commercial technology — stereolithography, selective laser sintering, 3D printing, DMD, DMLS, FDM, LS, SL, SLM, PolyJet, and more, can benefit from the information exchange and professional network that AMUG offers.

RAPID

As the leader and authority figure in 3D technologies, RAPID attracts buyers, sellers, and end-users of design, prototyping, tooling, and direct digital technologies to the preeminent event for discovery, innovation, and networking.

SFF2017

Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium

An annual, international conference for additive manufacturing.

DM2C

Defense Manufacturing Conference

The Defense Manufacturing Conference (DMC) is the nation’s largest annual forum for enhancing and leveraging the efforts of scientists, engineers, managers, technology leaders and policy makers across the defense manufacturing industrial base.

AeroMat

Aerospace Materials

AeroMat is the premier aerospace materials conference in the world presented by top leaders in aerospace materials field and includes an exposition of aerospace products and services from over 80 companies and organizations. The conference is produced by ASM International, the world's largest association of metals-centric materials engineers and scientists. The association is dedicated to informing, educating, and connecting the materials community to solve problems and stimulate innovation around the world.

TMS2

The Minerals, Metals, & Materials Society

This annual meeting & exhibition updates metallurgists, materials scientists and engineers, university professionals and students with the latest scientific and technical developments in minerals, metals, and materials.
